International Lecturers Give Lectures at FPP UMM Study Programs in the Visiting Lecturer Program

As part of the Summer Course Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Science (SCFAAS) 2024 activities, the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (FPP) Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) hosted international guest lecturers visiting lecturer from partner universities abroad. The guest lectures took place on 21 and 22 October 2024 in various study programs at FPP. The guest lectures aimed to provide new insights to FPP students and enrich their academic perspectives through the presence of international experts.

One of the speakers, Dr. Akkarasiri Sangsawang, an aquaculture expert from Kasetsart University, Thailand, lectured at the Aquaculture Study Program on the topic of “Potential Fisheries Management in Thailand”. The topic explored various effective and sustainable fisheries management strategies, highlighting how Thailand has developed its fisheries sector to support national and international food security.

Nurul Aini Kamaruddin from Sultan Zainal Abidin University (USZA), Malaysia, gave a lecture on *Using Remote Sensing in Agriculture and Forestry*. This topic emphasized on the use of remote sensing and satellite technology for more efficient and effective natural resource management, particularly in agriculture and forestry, which are increasingly affected by climate change and environmental degradation.

The Agribusiness and Food Technology Study Program welcomed Dr. Theerarat Rattanawisutamon, an agribusiness expert from Silpakorn University, Thailand. He gave a lecture on Agribusiness and Food Entrepreneurship, which focused on the challenges and opportunities in starting a business in the food sector, especially for the younger generation such as Gen Z. Dr. Theerarat emphasized the importance of innovation, courage, and the use of technology to develop a competitive food business in the global era.

Through this visiting lecturer activity, FPP students not only gain knowledge from a global perspective but also have the opportunity to interact directly with international academics who are experts in their respective fields. It is hoped that this program can broaden students' horizons, open up opportunities for internships or research collaborations, and provide access to various career prospects abroad.
