Aquaculture Study Program- The Fourth Study Programs Achieved Excellent Accreditation, Proving FAAS Consistently Maintains Education Quality

The Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Science (FAAS), University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) has achieved an “Excellent” accreditation rating from BAN PT. This Excellent Accreditation is based on the Decree of BAN-PT No. 2874/SK/BAN-PT/AK-ISK/S/V/2022 and is valid from 10 May 2022 to 1 November 2025.

This achievement adds to the ranks of FAAS Study Programs that have succeeded in obtaining Excellent accreditation. Of the 6 study programs at FAAS, 4 of them including the Aquaculture Study Program have achieved Excellent accreditation, while 1 Very Good Study Program and 1 Study Program are in the process of being submitted. “I’m proud because Excellent accreditation is the highest status for the quality of higher education recognized by the National Accreditation Board (called BAN in Indonesia) as a legal institution," said the Dean of FAAS, Dr.Ir.Aris Winaya, MM.MSi.IPU. The Dean of FAAS also added that the Aquaculture Study Program could be declared equivalent to public university in terms of quality. Students who study in aquaculture study program has equivalent of the education quality to that of major state universities in the aquaculture study program.

        The Head of Aquaculture Study Program, Dr.Hany Handayani, SPi.MSi is also very grateful for this achievement. According to Hany, with this achievement, the recognition of Aquaculture Study Program on the international stage will be improved through the proposal for ASIIN International Accreditation (Akkreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik). In addition, the Aquaculture Study Program will continue to improve the quality of the study program implementation, in order to keep up with the times that are always dynamic. “This accreditation has a positive impact on motivating students to increase their learning and positive activities. They are also more confident when they graduate and are easier to accept in the world of work,” said Hany. Many Aquaculture graduates have been accepted for work before graduation. "This is supported by the existence of a Center of Excellence in the form of a Prawn Professional School," she concluded. (RAN/hum).
