The Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Science (FPP) of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) introduced superior products from academics in a national seminar on food security. The event entitled "Regional Capabilities in Supporting the Food Security & Nutritious Food Program" was the agenda for the inauguration of the collaboration between UMM and the Indonesian National Air Force (TNI AU) on Saturday, December 16, 2024.

This collaboration aims to support the food security program in Indonesia's grand vision of welcoming the golden Indonesia 2045. Through the seminar agenda, it is hoped that there will be active collaboration between academics, the government, and the community to welcome food security and create a sustainable agricultural system. Through his speech, Andi Wijaya as the Assistant for the Aerospace Poteni of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force said that the TNI AU is indeed not the main actor in the agricultural sector.

"The TNI AU can play a role in the defense system by protecting and securing Indonesia's natural resources," he continued.

At the event, UMM introduced several superior products resulting from collaboration between academics and local farmers. The collaboration created products that have good selling value both nationally and internationally. The products include the rose essence drink "Elviza" created by Prof. Dr. Ir. Elfi Anis Sa'ati, MP; "Biofarm" liquid organic fertilizer by Prof. Dr. Ir. Indah Prihartini, MP, IPU; Lemongrass carbolic acid, the work of students in collaboration with the Center of Excellence (CoE) of the Forestry Study Program; and Moodco Chocolate in collaboration with the CoE of the Food Technology Study Program.

The product is one of UMM's efforts to support the food security program through the creation of a sustainable agricultural system and the utilization of potential sources of Indonesia's natural wealth. Not only that, the product was also used as a souvenir in the seminar entitled Food Security.

Prof. Dr. Nazarudin Malik, S.E., M.Si stated that the existence of the product is UMM's commitment to succeeding in the great mission of Indonesia Emas 2045. "We have also proven that universities can be the driving force for farmer welfare. "Through this collaboration, it is hoped that sustainable synergy can be created in supporting national food independence and the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045," he said.

Through the products of the work of UMM FPP academics, it is hoped that Indonesia has abundant natural wealth potential. The products of UMM lecturers' work also become provisions and enthusiasm for UMM to foster its students so that they are ready to enter society.
"The products that have been introduced are the results of the hard work of lecturers who collaborate with students to open up the potential of natural resources owned by Indonesia. This is also reflected through the existence of the CoE and entrepreneurship programs," said Prof. Dr. Ir. Aris Winaya, M.M., M.Sc., IPU., ASEAN Eng as Dean of FPP.

Through this program, students are fostered and actively encouraged to think creatively and innovatively in building a better nation. The CoE program can also be a motivator and provision for students to be ready to implement and succeed in the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045.
